AR-11 question

I have gone through a recent thread for AR-11 for the son, but I have a different although related question. My son too is in college but in a different state than where we live and lives on the college campus. We all have GC and his address has been our home address-with the college and immigration. All letters from the college which includes fee, bills ets come to our address. I did talk to my lawyer about 1 year ago-as to should we file AR-11 for our son as he lives on out of state college campus. My lawyer thought that as our home address is his permanant address, we need not file AR-11. His thoughts were that even if Immigration sent any correspondence for him, it will come to our home.
But after reading the recent thread I am in two minds. Do any other GC people have kids in college ( away from home town) and what are they doing?
Secondly, I read on Murthy boards that even if you file AR-11, the address on the file is not changed unless you ring their 800 number/ or write to them again confirming the change of address.

Thanks JoeF for your reply.
We have no cases pending with CIS presently. We will file for citizenship in a few years, and as I understand the paper work should have the same address at that time, as the last AR-11 filed just prior to applying for citizenship. Is that correct? And in case the address is changed then you file AR-11 along with informing the agency of your new address. Is my understanding correct? Thanks for the help.
