I had a put a post in march about the problems with my husbands birthcertificate where is passport had 1 name, and a BC had a completely differnent name & we got a RFE from CSC about submitting a proper BC.
Using everyone's good suggestions out here, we tried getting a corrected BC from BMC "Bombay/Mumbai" [dont want to get into the same controversy as last time]. It was tough as the original records in their books was wrong. AFter a lot of trouble, getting a lot of people involved & some money we got the right certificate & replied to the RFE on Apr 12. We had received the RFE on Mar 2.
We got his approval on Apr 22.
He had to go for stamping to San Jose INS but we are here in atlanta since a yr for my studies & we still maintain a california address. He couldnt go to california for stamping due to health reasons, so we walked into Atlanta INS this monday, despite talking to a customer service repres. at the call center who said u have to go to whichever place the notice specifies.
We said what the hell, we'll try..
Reached the office at 9.30 am. The officer issuing tokens said no problem, u can get stamping here, confirmed with his supervisor, was given a no. & told to wait. At 10 reached an officer who looked at the notice & said no, go to california.
But my husband told her that ur supervisor said no problems. SHe said let me check, went back, came back & did the stamping. Said we would receive his card at the california address. The whole process was no more than 45 mins.
I must say we are relieved, & are now waiting for my approval.
