Congratulations! That was the best early Christmas gift possible.

Can you tell us why you had to file an I-602? Thanks.

Thank you all for your heartfelt congratulations. I appreciate it! :)

To answer one person's question, I had to fill out the I-602 for the following reason:

"You have been found to be inadmissible under Section 212(a)(7)(A)(i) of the INA as an Alien not in possession of a valid unexpired immigrant visa, reentry permit, border crossing identification card, or other valid entry document required by the Act. Therefore, you are ineligible to adjust status."

I was also required to complete the I-693 (medical examination) and supplemental form I-693 (vaccination record) as part of my RFE.

I hope this answers your question.

I also wish everyone who is in the process good luck! May you all get your GCs soon.

I'll be back to let you know how the stamping goes.

212(a)(7)(A)(i)?

Thank you for your reply.

But are you sure this was your inadmissible ground? I believe that 212(a)(7)(A)(i) does NOT affect us asylees.

I pulled this from the INS website:

The provisions of paragraphs (4), (5), and (7)(A) of section 212(a) shall not be applicable to any alien seeking adjustment of status under this section, and the Attorney General may waive any other provision of such section (other than paragraph (2)(C) or subparagraph (A), (B), (C), or (E) of paragraph (3)) with respect to such an alien for humanitarian purposes, to assure family unity, or when it is otherwise in the public interest.

Someone please let me know I got that wrong.

jw1951,

I'm sure this was the ground for inadmissibility - as its on the RFE document and I sent out the reply to the RFE. :)

Now, perhaps the question we should be asking, if you are in fact correct, is why they sent this to me. And will they be sending this to other assylees? [Knowing the CIS, they probably will.]

To be frank with you, at this point, I don't care. :D I got my waiver and approval - so it's all good!

Take care.
