Wanted to share this news with y'all.

The online message says "This case has been approved. On March 5, 2004, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. "

Exactly two weeks ago, my case was transfered to VSC local office.

Yet to get my approval notice.

But my son's case message reads something I never came across on this forum. Here it is...

"The status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center."

I don't know about you all, there is always something that confounds me in the GC process.

There you go buddy ......

... so much for all the cribbing.

Enjoy. Don;t worry about your son's case. Just give it a couple of days and it will come.

BTW, atleast now, do you intend to change your username ? Or would you still hang on to it ?

That is good news, stuckintexas.
Did you receive any postal mail in regards to the transfer to VSC ?
I am now thinking the status change 'transfer to VSC' for you was incorrect and this one 'approved' is real.

Thanks for your kind words.

I got the transfer notice from TSC to ESC in VSC. Donno what ESC means. May be a local office under VSC. Looks like a compassionate soul from VSC approved my case. Still to get the approval notice.

But I am still eager to see very old cases form TSC either transfered or still there - Approved. for e.g. sm18, anajoti etc...

Just to put things in perspective... Here is what I say in the words of some famous sayings.

I don't want to show false bravery now as "It's easy to be brave from a safe distance"

Though now I tend to feel "Nothing is as bad as it looks",

as the the approval made me think like "Things always seem to happen when you least expect them"

But my case may not prove anything as "There are plenty of other fish in the sea"

I know seeing the spate of recent approvals, we all felt "Freedom is everywhere but I'm here".

All in all, I will truly be happy if all the other old cases like mine get approved ASAP.

Finally I think only time can heal what we went through.

Good luck and best wishes for all your pending cases.

Got approved too. Just checked the status. Nearly had a heart attack, I'm still thinking about calling 911. My palms are sweaty, and my heart rate is 150 or so!

Now, I gotta call my lawyers and congressmen and senators and everyone else I enlisted to help me out and tell them it's over!

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Thanks to everyone who provided moral support!

Anajoti- Do you think , writing to senators and congress men has helped you in getting the approval ?

That's tough to say. Once the transfer happened, I had the following done on my behalf:
1) My lawyer wrote to VSC demanding immediate action on the case
2) My congressman's office called both TSC and VSC, demanded more info
3) I was in the process of contacting both of my senators, trying to get them to do the same, but haven't started anything

The action under (1) and (2) both happened in the last 2 weeks. Very tough to say whether it had any impact. The person with "Stuckintexas" user handle had very similar transfer and adj. dates as me, I don't know if he/she contacted anyone.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to get them involved, I think most of the congressman and senators will be happy to intervene on your behalf.

Congrats, Stuckintexas!

Looks like your son's case is approved too, if he is a minor. According to VSC's posts, they received such on-line status message when their minor kids got approved. Hope this will add a little more of your happiness.

Does your transfer letter merely mention "to speedy the process" or say something about interview?

StuckinTexas,

I felt bad when I heard your case was transferred after so many months of waiting. Please accept my congratulations on your approval and your family's.

We are formally ex-TSC victims!

dear Stuckintexas or anybody out there with similar experience,

may i ask how you initiate contact with your congressman? i am in Colorado, and im under Tom Tancredo's district (who is so opposed to immigration). i am planning to contact another congressman from different district to ask for help with my case.

do you just email them (going to their respective homepage, for example)? i dont know anybody in that level, and just wants to know tips on how to get started.

Congrats to stuckintexas and anajoti on their I485 approvals.

I am relieved to see some approvals for cases with FP done in Jan2003, so thanks for posting.

ANOTHER "MAILED DIRECTLY TO WHOM ISSUED" BITES THE DUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to both of you..stuckintexas and anajoti !!!

By the way don't think "Mailed directly to whom issued" is the most ludicrous sounding, nautically nonsensical inglish?
I think you will agree with me 'stuck in texas'.

talongganisa, here's how I contacted ny congressman, and I think this is a good way of doing it:

1) find your congressmans(congresswomans) website, in your case it is:
http://www.house.gov/tancredo/

2) on there you can find info on their constituent services/casework, or something similarily named, in your case:
http://www.house.gov/tancredo/constituent/casework.htm

3) there you will find the form where you have to sign for the release of information

4) print out the form, sign it and take it to the congressman's local office, in your case:
District Office
6099 South Quebec St., Suite 200
Centennial, CO 80111-4547
(720) 283-9772

5) go there in person, you will be directed to a staff member dealing with these issues. They were very nice and helpful in my case. They may give you more forms to fill out. I think it's good to go in person and meet the staffers there, as they will be the people you will deal with directly.

Now, about the other problem you have - Mr. Tancredo, yes I have heard about him, and he does have a reputation as tough on immigration. However, what every anti-immigrant advocate likes to say is that they oppose ILLEGAL immigration, but not all immigration. They don't necessarily want to be viewed as isolationst, biggoted or God forbid, racist. I think someone like Tom Tancredo may end up helping you after all, because you are a legal immigrant, who has played by the book and respected the laws. Be sure to stress that when you explain the details of your case. Also, keep in mind that most of the work will be done by the staffers, and Mr. Tancredo may not get personally involved at all.
