Approved on 7/13/07 but effective from 2005

Hi All,

I have been a silent reader in this forum.
We had been on vacation to India for a month and on our return got the GC of mine and my wife's by mail. It was approved on 7/13/07. I received my son's appoval notice but have not received his card ordered e-mail nor his card.

On checking the much awaited GC I found to my surprise that the 'effectice since' date was put as 7/13/2005 and the expiry date as 7/13/2017. Is the effective date year a typo or am I being extremely lucky?

I appreciate all the valuable suggestion people pour out into this group. May God bless you all soon with your hearts desire.

It's a mistake. Get it corrected before applying for citizenship. When you apply for citizenship you have to put the date you became a permanent resident on the form, and you don't want them to realize the discrepancy at that time and make things complicated.

i think ur expiry date is fine, they always give you a 10 years of time in GC, but effective date is wrong i think its better for you to call them n find out immidiately, my expiry date on card is also 07/17/17
 
Congratulations on getting approved!

I would say the same thing as jackolantern and syed said. You might want to get this error corrected ASAP before it comes back to haunt you in the future.
