GC Boleto!! Apun approve ho gayela hai...!! Kya...? Sorry for the slang guys!!

The dreaded ordeal is over!! It has been a long and very tough journey for me and my wife. We have been through a tough testing times recently. It all started 6 years back.

1st Attempt:
-----------
1. 1st Labor was applied in 1999 and Approved in 2001.
2. Filed my I-140 in 2001 and Approved in 2002.
3. Papers were ready for I-485 BUT Laid off in 2002.
4. Based on Employer's policy my GC process was not supported after lay off since they were a massive company and followed RULES !!
5. Very rough 2002.
6. Got a job in Nov 2002 but lasted only for 4 months.
7. Very rough 2003.

2nd Attempt:
-----------
1. Back on job, BUT this time conditional. I freakin' wanted a Labor Substitution. (FYI: My previous company used my Labor for someone else and that person got GC before I could even start my own 2nd GC through this new company).
2. Fortunately this company provided me a Labor in October 2003 with PD of March 1999. So it was as if I was using my own labor but with a complete replay of I-140 and 2-1/2 years late.
3. I-140 was approved in June 2004.
4. And today I-485 is Approved for my wife and myself!!

It has been very tough and testing time for us to continue on this road. At times, we barely made ends meet. But the CREDIT goes to my WIFE who helped and encouraged me during this time tremendously. Otherwise I would have gone back to my country. We did not want to leave USA dejected. Yes!! We want to go back one day, but by choice.

I would like to say Thanks for everyone's help here...!! Some of the postings are really very nice and informative. Lot of people deserve a pat on their back for extending a helping hand towards others. I will not name anyone as the list would be endless, but THANKS!! to everyone of you'll.

I will be around and will answer questions whichever I can...

Kya bolta tu....Boleto......, Priority date bol, mein abhi ka abhi tujhe bolta hu !!! (Tell me the priority date and I shall let u know)

Your story touched me.....

I wish you all the best...hope you achieve what you set out to get...

You are absolutely right..the GC doesn't mean a damned thing per se...it's the independence and the freedom from this awful serf bondage that releases you completely...going back and serving India is the ultimate goal and this is just an intermediate journey....

similar journey - hopefully will reach the end like you !

Your journey is similar to mine, except that I have filed for 485 based on my first LC and 140. Still waiting for approval. Your news is encouraging. Congrats and good luck !

Congrats !

Your story is truly touching, gives some of us an idea that our struggles are much less than other peoples.

Hat's off to you and your wife and I think you more than deserve to make it.

Congrats !

congrats. Many people have gone through the same torturous path, including me. Early last year, when i completed 5 years in this country, i had barely a couple of hundred dollars in my account (less than $1000). Luckily i never had to borrow money from any one and also finally good days have come. There are some lessons for us here. We can't have what ever one else (or most of the people) has, but then we might have been blessed with other positive things that every one else is not blessed with. God gives different things (different life) to different people. So let's be content with what we got and let's feel good that we are far better than the vast number of poor people in this world. Some one who is lucky now (example: who got GC in 1 yr) may not be lucky 6 yrs from now and one who is unlucky now, might be very lucky 5 yrs from now. Life is an ongoing journey, so let's not judge the winner so soon.
The beauty of this forum lies in its seriousness and in it's open heartedness. We all learn a lot from each other by sharing our thoughts and experiences.

Thank you all!

Thank you all. Thanks...! I really appreciate that people understand the pain!! I am guilty at times when I did not appreciate the situation and circumstances I was in, but then when you have someone by your side, you can overcome anything...!

As rightfully said by one of our friends here (dogbert99) that "GC doesn't mean a damned thing per se...it's the independence and the freedom from this awful serf bondage that releases you completely".

We are glad it is over. And we do wish that people do not go through such a treacherous path to achieve independence. So much for freedom in today's hi-tech/hi-paced world.
