Guys,
I had an officer called me couple of weeks ago about my case being approved.
I went to the local office few days later via InfoPass and they don't want to give me more info than saying that yes it is approved but no other info as of when will I get the letter or card.
Today, I spoke to an Immigration officer using the 1800 number and she mentioned that she doesn't see any record of approval.
Does anyone has any idea or have been through a situation like this.
I am just baffled with all this. Plz reply If you have any clues.

There is no record because the local office immigration officer created an I-181 application for you and filed it with the regional office. My I-485 does not show approval or any updates since my interview at the local office. My I-181 was updated today and it said I should be receiving the approval notice in the mail.

Wait to receive and I-181 receipt from Nebraska or whichever is your regional office, and you will start to see updates to your case. I was in the same boat for 3 weeks when I didn't have anything to prove that my case is approved. Give it sometime!

Email for USCIS Status Check

Hi All,
Can someone give me email and contact for USCIS. I want to email and get status check on my case.
Priority 4/2001 with approved I-140
485 filed in Dec 2004,
i completed 2nd FP in Febuary 06, but no LUD on my cases since April 05?
Thanks

You can call 1800-375-5282 if you know your case number.
Also, you can go to Uscis.gov and search for the status of your case.

It takes time (sometimes, a very long time) for local offices to file the I-181 case for you. Before the regional office receives the application, they have no idea about the status of a transferred case.

Look at my signatures and you'll see that it took me more than 4 months to get my approval documents to NSC to produce an I-181 case number. So, be patient and relax.

Madison,
So what if someones EAD or I-765 is expiring soon and he has still not received any approval letter for passport stamping at least.
What should one do, renew employment card?
Thanks

So, your local office didn't give you the stamp when they approved your case?

I assumed your case was approved at a local office, then they should've stamped your passport on the spot and you don't have to wait for an approval notice from the regional service center to get a I-551 stamp. It is possible that your local office believes that you'll receive your physical card soon and there is no reason to stamp your passport right away. According to my talks with Milwaukee interview officers, there are currently two systems to file I-181 applications for locally approved cases: The old one (where my case went through) is very slow and takes about 6 months to receive the card; the new system is very fast and takes only a few weeks. So, if your case is in the new system, then there will be not much need to stamp your passport in a hurry.

Anyway, if your EAD is expiring, you can always go to your local office to ask for a passport stamp without having to wait for the formal approval notice. I saw another poster on this forum who was refused for a stamp. But he went there again and the second officer gave him a 3 months (or 6 months) stamp right away. --The bottom line is, as long as you're approved, they'll always be able to find a way to address your problems.

Madison,
Thanks for your response. Well as I mentioned that I received a phone call from the officer who interviewed us on the 23rd of March that he is going to approve the case, congratulated and my mistake that I didn't ask him any other questions like the one I am asking you.
On 29th I went to the local office with my passport to see if I can get my passport stamped. The officer told me he is not going to stamp it unless I get an approval letter, despite of him confirming that my case is approved.
So here I am waiting for the approval or card.
Any ideas?
