Me and my spouse received an email from USCIS today saying our case has been approved.. The online status says "This case has been approved. On April 3, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address".

There is no mention of card ordering and I would like to know what is the next step. We completed our FP3 in Nov so there wont be anymore biometrics I guess.. My Husband is traveling abroad this week , can he travel with his H1 still ? We still dont have our notice in hand (I think we will be receiving it in a week or so) so he wont be able to even try getting temporary stamping in his passport.

How long it will take to receive the approval notice ? When will they order a card and what is the time frame ? How can my husband travel abroad at this situation?? I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me in this regard..

My case details (for inquiring minds)

EB2 - India (TSC)
Priority date: June 2001
140/485/EAD/AP RD:Sep 29, 2005
140/EAD/AP approval:Nov 2005
FP3: Nov 2005
485 approval : Apr 3, 2006

Hi Honeyarjun - were you a labor substitution case?

Yes. But my husband is the primary applicant and he is working for the same company from 2001. They applied for his labour in 2004 , Perm in 2005 but finally we got lucky and they used this Sub labour for him at the verge of retrogression  .

What if Labor Substitution ?

Aakash28,

What if Labor Substitution case.
Mine is the same one.
My I-485 got approved on 03/31/06, I did not find any update after that like cards ordered or so....
If it is LC substitution, will there be any hurdels after I-485 approval ?
Like going for local office stamping or so..

Please share your knowledge and information.

Thank You in advance.
:)

As far as I know there should not be anything different in labor substitution case when compared to the others. Mine is a EB3 Labor Substitution case - I have come across many (almost 8-9 cases) EB2 Labor Substitution Cases getting approved within 6-8 months (sometimes even sooner than that) of filing I-485, I-140, if their priority date gets current.

COngratulations on your 485 approval! SInce your code 3 bio were already done, you might receive your cards very soon. It is my guess. In my case, my 485 was approved on 3/16/06. I received the email on 3/18/06 about the approval. But did not get any email sayign cards are ordered but got the cards in mail along with the approval letters on 3/20/06.

Email message

Hi ,

I got the letter saying that " I would get another notice which would have dates for biometrics appointment".. I gave my FP in Aug '05 and my wife gave her FP in Dec '05. They should be current.. Is there a chance that I will get my cards or will I have to go for infopass appointment. what would be your guess..

Does anyone know what is the time frame to get the second letter with infopass details..( It says 90 days on the approval letter - but what is the general timeframe)..
