Hi All,

Finally the AVM for a change decided to change the 'greeting' message.

My Info is (updated on Rupnet with id as Ashish - there are two, I'm the 8/02 one!):

EAC-02-013-5xxxx
PD - 06/28/00
RD - 08/23/01
ND - 10/16/01
FP - 05/01/02 ( I went in for a very very late FP, almost a week before the 'final cut-off date')
AD - 08/02/02

I have been a silent visitor to Immigration.com. Started out with reading all possible "rules and conditions" about H1. Then "graduated" to the GC. It's been a fun ride so far .. let's see how the future beholds.

A weird thing - called up VSC on 8/2 at 2:30p PST (I stay in Cali) and got the usual 'FP recd. blah blah .....' and then tried again at 5:30p PST and was surprised (pleasantly!) that 'This Appln has been approved ..... '.

Another interesting thing is that I have changed two jobs since the I-485 was filed (8 months after, though!) - hoped for no RFE's (but was well prepared anyways) and got none. :)

I would like to thank everyone for maintaining/posting messages - a lot of silent visitors like me, read and learn a lot. Many thanks to Rajiv Khanna for Immigration.com and folks at Rupnet. And a very special thks go to greaty-k for follow up and updating info.

I hope all the July and Aug filers get to hear that different 'greeting' when calling up VSC. Just a little more patience, guys ... hang in... Best Wishes! :)

Ashes02 ..Congrats. You made it..

Can u let us know what preparations you made for RFEs (since you mentioned you changed 2 employers)

Thanks in advance for your reply to this

Hi All,

Thanks for your wishes. Best Wishes to you all.

I have been reading about RFE's in this forum, so most of my preparations were from the information gathered by reading other people's experiences.

My two cents worth, In most cases RFE's are issued when INS (I read this somewhere in this site) is unsure if one is working using EAD or H1 (you must be aware of AC 21). In my case although I had changed two companies, my original H1 (thro' the company which applied for the GC) was valid thro' Feb '03. Moreover I got an H1 transfer after about 8 mos of I-485 - that H1 transfer appln (I did a premium processing and besides I had to mention my A# on the H1 appln form and hence can be tracked to the GC appln) generated an RFE, INS I guess wanted to be sure if I had a project, they wanted things like employment offer, an actual end contract (with the client!) plus project details like the system being built, etc plus 3 prev. pay stubs. On producing all this evidence the H1 appln was approved in 3 days flat! (after the RFE reply)

So, most of the times what INS needs would be employment letter offer (to prove that one is in a stable job), past 3-6 pay stubs and sometimes tax records (I had filed these with my I-485).

So, make sure you have the reqd. paperwork. All INS needs (I guess, :) ) is documentation/proof (the more extensive the better).

Another interesting thing is the company which had filed my GC had a name change - so if this is the case, an letter from Sec of State which confirms the name change etc (I had this document too, if it was required!).

Hope this helps.
