The last of my family member who is at a different location in USA got his approval. (We got two of ours in Oct end and Nov first week although filed together on same date in 99)

ND 11/5/99
FP 08/2003
Approval 01/12/04

I got my plastic card sent message online
ND 11/05/99
FP 08/15/03
RFE 10/14/03
RFE rcd by BCIS 10/22/03
APPROVED 11/07/03
Stamped 11/17/03
Plastic Card mailed 01/14/04

Also RTD ND 06/15/03 approved and sent on 01/12/04. Yet to receive.

BCIS is working slow but steady as per timelines.
I suggest you should write to them if too much time has passed and you did not hear anything and your ND is due for process.

Thanks for the information. Gives some kind of feeling the things are moving somehow.

RTD seems to be slowed down as well. 7 months to receive it - no way someone could make travel arrangements.

Hope things get faster this year.

:)

I think one of the reasons that contribute to the delay of RTD processing time post 9/11 is more thorough background checks. Dont forget the US is at war (the War on Terrorism) right now. And secondly, eventhough the CIS doesn't have any official policies limiting our overseas travels based on the reasons we travel outside of the country (i.e. Pleasure cruises to Bahamas vs visitng a terminally sick immediate relative) I dont think the CIS likes to see us taking too many out of country trips for light reasons such as a summer vacation in the Bahamas.
Surely freedom of travel is a right promised in the universal declartion of human rights but we as asylees need to realize that we were permitted to stay here in the US on the humanatarian reason that our lives would be threatened if we go back to our home countries. I dont want to get into the discussion involving ethical issues such as whether an asylee should have the right to go back home to visit his dying relative but fellows...let's take our vacations on the beaches of Florida or the snow mountains of Colorado.
