approval letters

I have just been reliably told that the NSC has completed the processing of many asylees files. The approval letters will go out as soon as the Bush memo on refugees becomes official (in other words within days).

People like Alanpero, myself and a few others here should be celebrating soon. This has me excited.

PS: I wonder how is Jackarcher is doing.

Kelvin,

You sound too too agitated. Please relax and take it easy. Get to know your adopted country better. Find a good job or enroll in college to learn something useful. Your new journey in life has just begun. You can succeed in the greatest country on earth, an opportunity for which many people have died and will continue to die in trying to obtain. Take advantage of it and think positive. Good luck.

That certainly is a great new and long waited (so far, almost 9 years since I applied for asylum). President Bush's memo already became the Presidential Determination No 2003-02 and was signed and approved on October 16 (I posted a thread recently).
So, it seems that based on that information we might be near to the end of the tunnel!!

PD

Alanpero,

My understanding is that before having full legal force, the PD must be published in the Federal Register. After that happens, approval notices will go out. I certainly hope to receive my GC before Thanksgiving.

That's correct, and I haven't seen anything yet in the Federal Register, and I share your hopes also.

Gilbert,
Does this mean that they will issue the approvals without waiting for the finger prints to be taken? I was going to renew my refugee travel document and I am not sure now. If I receive my green card what kind of travel document should I apply for? Is it called I-131 re-entry?

shamshon,

I believe that they MUST have a current FP before approval. It seems that people whose cases can be approved in FY 03 have all received FP notices in the past few months. Did you? When did you file your I-485?

Green card holders can still use the RTD or apply for a reentry permit. For a few places (like canda), I think all they need is the card itself.

Gilbert,

Can you explain (if you do not mind) what you mean by "I have just been reliably told"? Thanks.
