appointment before approval??!!

hi all,

in one the H1B forums i found that i cant book a appointment date until my application is approved.
in one forum i found a post saying as below......

"well, you can surely book an appointment, if the consulate you going to is behind schedule like 2 months behind, the 2 months waiting for your appointment is I guess enough time for the approval of your H1B.
If your going to ask me, I'll book an appointment but I will only go to the consulate if I have all the papers with during the interview, so that I can clearly answers all the questions.
But I think it would not hurt if you schedule an appointment if your consulate is behind sched, where you from?"

i am confused. experts pls suggest...

Hi Raja,

Whatever you have read is perfectly right. if the consulate in which you will be booking the date is behind schedule of 2-3 months then you can safely book the appointment date and then wait for the approval in the meanwhile and then attend the interview. To make this clear lets see it this way.

Today - 30 June
Next immediate date available in consulate - Dec 1
You H1 was filed on - 20 Apr
Expected approval date - 15 Aug

So if you book the date today then you can easily attend the interview on Dec 1 as you also have the approval on your hand by Aug 15.

The only risk i see here is that if (gor forbid) your H1 approval is rejected then you will lose the money you paid for the DD of HDFC bank which is non-refundable.
