Applying this month in VA - how long does it take?

Folks,
How long does it (approximately, ofcourse!) take to get the Citizenship from the time of application? Does it vary by state (like the Green Card process)? And if yes, anyone who applied in the recent past in VA and received it, how long did it take for you?

Thanks!

The time is largely dependent upon the district office (DO) attached to your zip code and has nothing to do with the state. A state could have multiple DO's and some states may not have a single DO and could use a nearest DO located in a different state.

More specifically in VA, the Norfolk DO seems to be currently taking approx. 4 to 4.5 months for a typical case whereas Fairfax/DC DO approx. 3 months (from application to Interview). These estimates include the time taken at the National Benefits Center that eventually transfers the case processing to your local respective DO's. If one does not get the same day Oath it may add another month or so to the case.

Of course the time varies on a case by case basis; these are only approx. estimates based upon input provided on this forum.
