Need some advice on situation-
I am going to apply for citizenship based on 5yr eligibility.
Just came back to US after 5 months stay abroad as I had lost job here (took long vacation).
Now I want to apply for citizenship immediately but I don't have job in hand right now.
How does this affect my citizenship chances?

Thanks in advance.

Get relaxed...:).....job is not a must for citizenship..........it's not a requirement...........as long as you can produce last 3 years tax returns........if Immigration officer asks for it during interview

As kruz_paz said, job is not a must for citizenship. However, your last 5 month trip might raise questions on your intent to stay in US. It depends on whether this is just one trip, or you had more trips before this. It also depends on the IO checking your file - some people may not have a job in US because they have a job in another country or are living somewhere else.

Again, based on just one factor - not having a job - it is not an issue. But look at the N400 form, and see how many places do you are expected to provide information which might be out of norm, and go from there.
