Applying I130 and Applying for Green Card

Could you please suggest if one can apply I130 for spouse/child and get it approved... Can one apply Green Card for spouse/child through consular processing or I485 indefinitely later say after 10 or 20 years... Question here is how long I130 is valid inorder to use it for applying Green Card application...
