Applying I-140/485

I am posting this for my friend.

He is working for company "A" on H1-B and applied for LC thru COMPANY "B" and got cleared. Please note that, he does not have an H1-B with company "B". Now, he is planning to apply for I-140/485 with company "B" with an intention to join company "B" after Green Card approval.

Please advise, whether the above approach is correct.

Nothing wrong here.
The 'friend' should continue to work with company A (or any company that would hold his/her H1).
'Friend' cannot work for company B unless the applicant gets an EAD or only after company B sponsors a H1.

Company "B" should be ready to respond to any queries on I140 and/or I485.
