Applying for Visitor visa

Hello,

I am planning to apply for visitor visa for my mom who is 60+. I am not sure whether to book the tickets first and send the tickets for applying visa or first apply for the visa and depending on the visa they give (6 months or 1 year) book the tickets later.

Can anyone please tell me which will be the best option. Please share your comments...........


Also if I get a 6 months round trip ticket and if the consular grants visa for just 6 months. Does the 6 months start from the day the visa is issued or it applies the day my mom enters US. Please advice.

First get the visa and then buy the ticket.

As long as the visitor lands in USA before the 6 months visa time, it's fine. Duration of stay in the USA is determined at POE.
