Applying for RTD while I-485 pending

I need to travel overseas this coming Fall.
However, I am still waiting for approval from TSC.
Apparently, it must be the name check that is taking so long.
Could someone tell me: if I apply for RTD, will I get it even though my I-485 is still pending due to the name check?

Any sharing of experience about this issues is highly appreciated.

Completed all administrative requirements: October 2005.
