Applying for I-485 and transfer to F1

My PD became current in the June visa bulletin. But, my husband is planning to join a school in August and will transfer from H1 to F1. If we apply for the third stage, will that interfere with his F1 adjustment of status? F1 being a non-immigrant visa, will this pose a problem for us?
