Here is a story of a friend of mine. He lives in Florida, his wife works as a Medical Resident in Cincinatti (using her EAD). Their 485 has been pending since june 2002. When it was time to apply for their second EAD (about 95 days before the expiration of the first EAD), he chose the online filing thinking that it would be quicker. B'cos she was working in Cincinatti, she went to local ASC in Cincinatti for digital photos and finger prints (as required by online EAD).
About 85 days later her status changed to RFE issued. Can you guess what the RFE was for? TSC says it never received the digital photos or finger prints. Cincinatti ASC ppl say they don't keep a record of the photos or the fps. Mean while her current EAD expired and her director gave her a week to get new EAD or get fired.
She flies back to Tallahassee, Florida and then they drive to Jacksonville for her iEAD. First day they were told that they can not issue an EAD when RFE is pending and asked them to come back when the status changes to Reply to RFE received.
My friend waits anxiously for two days for the message to change. And luckily it changes, so they drive to Jacksoville the next day. And this time another guys says, come back after 90 days from the RFE received date.
To cut the long story short, she was not given the iEAD. Also, my friend noticed that a lot of EADs filed online have been issued RFE.
I would not be surprised if most of these RFEs were for the same reason : DID NOT RECEIVE YOUR DIGITAL PHOTOS.
If I were applying for EAD, i would not go for online filing, just b'cos we are introducing another point of failure in this inefficient, ineptitude, disorganized, bull crap organization.
