I am planning to apply for E2 visa from Pakistan. I have been working in banks in audits and technology. Now I want to apply for E2 with the plan to open a cafe or some fast food shop. Is it okay to apply with a new kind of work that I had not been doing in my career and there will be no queries asked by the visa counsellor or it is not advisable to apply for this kind of business (cafe or fast food) and I should apply to open (say) a consultancy business dealing in entity management, company accounts, audits, technology?

You can apply for an E2 visa with a new type of business like a cafe or fast food shop, even if it’s different from your past work experience. The key for the E2 visa is showing that your investment is real, substantial, and that the business will create jobs or contribute economically. Visa officers typically focus on the viability of the business and your ability to run it successfully, rather than requiring you to have prior experience in that exact industry. Regarding your question on how do companies go into administration, it’s important to understand that visa officers care more about business viability than experience. However, having relevant experience or a solid business plan can strengthen your application. Both options are possible; choose what you feel confident managing.
