Applying for citizenship, eligibility question.

I live in US for 10 years now. Came in 1997, parole in public interests. I applied for green card a year after came but it was delayed for 5 years. Do not know why, was told simply because too many applications. So I got my green card with "Resident since 03/03/2003". The guy who did interview said that I can apply for citizenship pretty much anytime (cause of delay). So I finally decided but question is: Am I eligible? I do not have any not except memory that the guy said it that i am.
In the application N400 under eligibility paragraph there is a place to explain all that but I do not want to spend $400 and get denied.

I would not have any problem to wait another year but because of the rate increase I wanted to do it now.

PS: Also the guy who did green card interview said something that they upgraded me to LA6 (what ever that means) and that is why I can apply to my citizenship regardless that I got my permanent resident status only in march 2003.

Thanks
George.

I am not sure such an exception exists but you should do some research if the fee savings are important to you, don't just rely on this forum. And do it fast! Many people I know have been in the GC mess but they don't get waiver for n400 just because they got delayed in GC. You may be in some special category and such cases rarely show up here.
If you apply now and get denied that is 400 down the drain . Or you can wait and apply next yr when most people with that GC date apply.

Eligibility to naturalize is normally based upon your start date for LPR, which should correspond to the "resident since" date on your GC. Sometimes I know there are glitches in this system, so you may also be able to confirm the date based upon an I-485 approval notice or I-551 passport stamp.

Under the standard 5 year waiting period, it looks to me like you become eligible in early 2008.

If gevorg files N400 now and if he is scheduled to be interivewd in 2008, will he be able to file his application now.
