Applying for Citizenship consequences to the spouse

Hi,

My dad wants to apply for citizenship but my mom is still waiting for her adjustment of status for legal permanent residence to be approved...

My dad along with my siblings are are here as permanent residents, but my mom is here under the V-Visa...

1. What happens to her adjustment of status if my dad applies for citizenship?
A. Will it be affected?

2. How long does she have to wait until she is approved?
(She filed for the adjustment of status 2 years ago)

AOS times of 2 years are really unusual, so something is missing here...

My wife's AOS took 28 months. That was 4 years ago through Atlanta DO.
