Applying for citizenship and divorce at the same time

Hi all,

I'm here in US 5 years , doing N400 application and planning to do divorce paperwork with my ex at the same time.
I have a question before I applying my application:

I'm not officially divorced (I'm not even send out the divorce paper yet) so I don't have the divorced date to fill in the application.
I don't want to put married in there because I'm concern they will ask about my ex at my interview and we are not together almost 2 years now...and will they ask him to come for my interview also?( he is out of state to work, and thats why we couldn't start the divorce paper earlier)
what should I do at this point?
I'm planning to applying for citizenship with divorced status and then divorced paper right after, by the time I have interview for the citizenship, my divorced paper should be done.
Is there anyway to say I'm officially married but will divorced?

Is it a good idea? I'm not really sure what to do at this point

Thank you so much for your help
Have a great day
Tracy

Are you applying for citizenship based on 5 years LPR status or 3 years married to USC.

If you are applying as 5 years LPR, being seperated from husband (either married or divorced) shouldn't create a problem.
But if your application is based on married to USC for 3 years, being seperated would be big problem.

If you are still married as of the date you file the application, then put married, since that's technically correct. If that changes between then and the interview, well, you can tell the interviewer that.
