My friend has a bachelor's degree and one and half years of experience. He wants to come to US either on a F1 or a H1. He wants to get a masters from a US univ, but currently thinking that he could do that while working on H1. So he wants to explore the following option.
Apply for an I-20 for Fall 2007 and also apply for a H1 in April 2007.
Case 1: Got I-20, but H1 is rejected - Come to US on F1, finish masters and then go onto H1
Case 2: No I-20 but H1 is approved - Try the luck at the consulate for H1 stamping.
Case 3: Got both I-20 and H1. Come to US on F1 and then shift to H1 in Oct 2007 and work & study simultaneously.
It is the Case 3 that I am doubtful about but he is more interested in. If both I-20 and H1 are approved and he goes to consulate for a F1 visa, does his H1 stands canceled? Any pointers? Can someone share their thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for inputs.
