Hello all,

Just wanted to know your opinon/comments on this.

I got an admit to grad school, starting this Fall and I am desperately looking for loans to sponsor my tuition. I need your help in determining if one is elgible for Federal loans (www.fafsa.ed.gov) while on AOS, using A# in I484. One of my friends said his loan was approved and he's in his AOS too.

The application says to be an eligible noncitizen you should be :

(1) a U.S. permanent resident and you have an Alien Registration Receipt card (I-551); or
(2) a conditional permanent resident (I-551C); or
(3) an other eligible noncitizen with an Arrival-Department Record (I-94) from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service showing any of the following designations: “Refugee”, “Asylum Granted”, “Indefinite Parole”, “Humanitarian Parole”, or “Cuban-Haitian Entrant”.

Thanks,

My daughter's application for finacial aid to CSU was denied
just because she was not a permanet resident.

DREAM Act or Student Adjustsment Act may save illegal students,
however, the current intentionally processing delay of EB I-485 is significantly UNFAIR to legal workers and their dependents.

You might be able to get it. They usually need a co-signer.
I was able to take it in 2001, while I was in H1 and no GC then and now also. Not sure about the formalities.

Try Sally May.
