Hello canada PR Gurus,

I am on H1B visa and planning to apply for Canada PR from USA.My US GC is not yet started and only 3 years left in H1B.

It will be of great help if you could guide me .I will be applying to the Buffalo canada consulate.

1.When should I submit PCC and FBI finger print.Should this be done along with Initial application.

2.For mark sheets and degree certificates ,can we get a photocopy of certificates notorized from a notary in US Banks /AAA or should be this done at a higher level.

3.Is birth certificate necessary for applying to canada PR.
Can birth certificate affidavit from Indian embassy be substituted.

Thanks in advance

Sri

If you have decided to apply for PR, dont waste time. Its a big decision and takes a lot of time to gather up the documents.
You dont have to submit clearences initially. You can submit them once u receive ur IA. This can take anywhere from 9 months to more than a year (as per the mails in this forum and my experience).
Marksheets you can do as you said. Notarised copied. However I submitted my undergraduate transcripts from the university. I dont think this is an issue.
As per the application guidelines , u have to submit birth certificate. But embassy affidavit should be good enough. My experience with consulate is so far great. They are not picky in these things. As long as you provide docs with proper explanation, this will do.

Good luck.

Apply with whatever you have and wait for IA. This will tell you in case you have anything missing or anything more is needed.

Photo requirements for application

My application is almost complete.

The Canada immigration application checklist states photo size as 35 mm by 45 mm or 1 and 3/8" by 1 and 3/4" size. Walmart, CVS, Ritz Photo all do 2inch by 2 inch and none seem to do the 35 X 45mm size. So where does one get these pics taken?
Appreciate your help. This is holding my application process. Did not expect a hurdle at this photo step.

Can you advise?

-Prem

Where are you located? We did ours in philly. Most of US immigration offices have local agents doing photos in carts and all. They are experts in this and can help u out. Check something like that. If u are in philly, there is one near 16th Street.
