Apply for US Citizenship from North Carolina

Hi,

I got my GC in October 2002 via consular processing in India. I get my eligibility (4 years 9 months) to apply for citizenship after July 15th 2007.

After I got the GC, I stayed with the company for 6 months. then moved to another company in NC and I am still working there. When I first joined the company in NC, I worked as an employee. Later (after 3 years on w-2), I became self employed (start S corp), working on corp-to-corp with the same company.

Has anybody applied for US citizenship while owning a corp?. Ofcourse I am the only employee in my company.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

To be accurate, you may file 90 days before the 5 year mark - this is a little different from 3 months. (Three months before 10/15 is 07/15, 90 days before 10/15 is 07/17).

My understanding (and, remember, I'm not an expert)

The only important "employment" thing on your application is that they check to make sure, if your GC was the result of a company sponsoring you, that it wasn't obtained fraudulently. You are allowed changing jobs, you are allowed being unemployed, you are allowed being on disability, as long as you and your sponsoring company didn't play any tricks. If you left your sponsoring company before or immediately after you obtained your GC, it was traditionally a big red flag. However, as GC processing got slower, they mutated the rules somewhat.

The other reason for your "employment history" on the form is so that it becomes more input to your background checks.

Again, I'm not an expert, but, if it were me, I wouldn't worry.
(and, it is 90 days before 5 years)
