Apply for SSN with I-765 Approval Notice

Does anybody knows if you could apply for a social security number with just the I-765 approval notice, not the actual EAD card. The reason is that I think my EAD might've got lost in the mail since it's almost a month since the sent it out, and I havent got it yet, the only paper that I have is the I765 approval notice which my lawyer received.
 
You may have to query your lawyer further. When I received my EAD card, it came in the Approval Notice.

Have you tried contacting USCIS about your card?
 
The approval notice for I-765 encloses the EAD card itself... something smells fishy... but you can not apply for an SSN "just" with the approval notice, you need the card itself.
 
My lawyer gave me a copy of it, and it says that the EAD card will be mailed separately to the beneficiary. Has this happened to anyone before?

Valid from 12/xx/07 to 12/xx/08

Your application for employment Authorization has been approved. the form I-688B Employment Authorization Document, was sent under separate cover to beneficiary.
This card authorizes you employment in the USA blah blah blah
If any information on the card is incorrect please write the office blah blah blah
Did yours say the same?

Nope. Mine and everyone (who filed without a lawyer I guess) just was sent to the beneficiary.

I guess you are "safe". Just wait a week or two.
