Apply for OCI or entry visa?

Hello Everyone, am hoping to become a US citizen by end of May..and will likely have to travel to India in mid-august..

Looks like OCI processing(I fall under Houston jurisdiction since I live in Florida) takes about 2-3 months..

Assuming I do become a citizen in May,

1. Should I go OCI route or simply apply for an Indian entry visa?

2. Should I wait to apply for OCI until I become a US citizen and have US passport in my hand or can this process be started earlier?

I suppose I can apply for OCI after my travel plan is complete but its worth trying to get this one behind..

You need to have US passport before you apply for OCI. You have to send notorized copies of US passport with the OCI application.
