You have to find out if that particular offense was serious enough to make you inadmissible. If it wasn't that serious, you can travel outside the US and return without any waiver. But if it made you inadmissible, you won't be able to return to the US if you leave and even if you don't leave the US you'll be permanently ineligible for naturalization.

I am a permanent residence with a green card since May 2008 through my wife. I got arrested May 2011. My lawyer suggested I plead guilty while he files for "first offender”. Jan 2012 my sentence day the judge accepted the first offender and gave me supervision, 100hrs community service. I get 100 community service and 3 years supervision, I suppose to get 6 months jail but the government give me Rule35 no jail time, I have clean record state and county, I pass my background check at my work. Immigration lawyer was telling me he needs to file for citizenship for me @ 2016 when this supervision is over. I want travel is there a waiver so I can come back USA with no problem, Can I apply citizenship or how long do I have to wait good moral character 3 years if you married to us citizen or 5 years.
Please give me advice, I am running out of money for Lawyer consulting.
