Applied I-485 with receipt of I-140( question regarding marriage)

Can any immi gurus shed light ?

I applied for AOS (I-485) with receipt of I-140. Waiting on I-140 approval.

ND/RD for I-140: April 18/2003
AD : waiting

Applied I-485 on June 20/2003

ND/RD for I-485: waiting
EAD: waiting
AP: waiting
FP: waiting

If I get married while my 485 is pending, is it easy to add supplement 485 for my spouse after I get married? How does it effect the green card process( with the fact my 485 is already filed). My marriage will be sometime in dec2003/jan2004.... will that be too late to add beneficiary to pending principal applaicant's 485 ?

any one is same boat?

any comments/help will be appreciated.

best wishes...

U need to have a valid US visa, to bring ur spouse on dependent visa to US.
Once in US, u can file 485 for ur spouse as ur dependent as long as the 485 is pending.
So, maintain ur valid non-immigrant visa status till u can bring ur spouse to US.

Thanks for the response..

I am maintaining my H1.. and will do so... till the last step.

-- The important thing about adding your spouse is that she should be in USA at the time you add, usually it is H4 or F1 status. If she will enter as your dependent, it is extremely important that you maintain your H1B status, if you work on EAD she can be added but it is a lengthy and complicated process.

-- It does not affect your application, but the sooner you apply for your wife the better for her.

-- You can add a dependent anytime before your application is approved, even a week before you get your approval. But be careful, if you are approved before adding you will be in big trouble, 6 year wait!!

These are common questions, looks around this excellent website...you will have tons of info!

-- yup!

Good Luck!
