Applied for TN renewal in 2 weeks before TN expires.

I sent my I-129 application along with my wife's I-539 for TD on April 7th with second day delivery to Vermont processing center. On the 9th of April the package was delivered at 12:00PM as I checked the tracking status on the net.

Until now no funds have been taken out by USCIS from my checking account, and therefore, no receipt has been received.

Kind of worried and stressed, since my TN is until 23d of April and I will not be able to work without the receipt.

Any idea why they haven't cashed the check that I sent? Did they send the application to the California office or something?

Please share your experiences with me.

Once you sent it in you automatically get a 240 day extension until it is approved or denied (don't worry everything will be okay).

Is that really true? My driver's license will expire in 4 days as well. Without the receipt they won't renew it probably. Or I can just show them the postal office slip that I did sent my papers two weeks ago?

I just called the USCIS and they said that the Vermont office is very backlogged at the moment. Getting the receipt may take up to 45 days!
 
If you want or need to leave the county, just apply for your new TN at the border. Yes there is an extension if you've filed for your new TN by mail, however, it is not advisable to travel without at least a reciept and many border guards will most likely just tell you that you need to apply for a new TN right there anyways.

So if you travel, just take all your docs etc, get the new TN comming back to the US, and then file a cancellation on the mail in TN you submitted. Either that or just wait and don't leave until you have the new TN, or at least a reciept that it's being processed (though with the reciept there's no guarenteening they'll let you back in just on that)...
