Applied for both OPT and H1B

I was on pre-completion OPT for six months, from June 1st to December 21st 2005. I applied for an extension of OPT (post completion from Dec 22 2006 to May 31 2006) on Nov 4th to the Vermont Service Center, the status of which is still pending. In the meantime, on January 12th 2006, my University where I work applied for my H1B under premium processing. So as of now, technically my application is pending for both F-1 OPT and H1.

Can anyone please let me know what happens if my OPT comes first and then H1? Or if H1 comes first then OPT? Does one status has precedence over the other?
