Cider, you do not have to have an EAD( look at the BCIS memo i posted yesterday) . We mentioned this matter many times in the forum. I hate to see you wasting your money on something you do not need. Good luck

Thanks shamshon , i understand what you said and I agree with you, but if you been following my posts, I have no document that proves I am granted asylum except a copy (not original) of a judge letter. so I kind of need something official from the INS.

thanks again

Hi Gilbert, if you are talking about the unrestricted SS no I didn't.
after I read the INS official document that says asylum can apply for unrestricted SS, i noticed they were asking to bring 3 or 4 document that proves the asylum. unfortunaltly I don't have them.

Thanks

what happened to your original decision? You should contact the court to ask for a new one.

Do you have an expired EAD? It may work too.

I contacted the court, they sent me a copy of the judge decision. I been renewing EAD since 1999. I do have an expired EAD
date of expiration 02/2003

So your EAD expiredly only recently. While it was still valid, you should have gone into a ssa office to apply for a ss card. They definitely accept a valid asylee ead without anything else. An expired one might or might not work, I do not know. But give it a shot.

I wish i would ve known that before it wxpired. Do you personally know a case where unrestricted ss were issued just with EAD?

Yes I do, more than one, in fact. If you read the official documents posted here, an EAD (with the A5 code) is one of the acceptable evidence listed by SSA central office. I actually think it is better than a IJ decision because it has a photo on it.

update

Hi guys,
Last nite out of curiosity I checked my I-765 status and found out it was sent to me on March 4th but was returned by USPS due to address error. I looked at my notice of action and yes it did have wrong apartment number, so this morning i talked to INS officer after redialing the number for 5 minutes and playing with the tree for 20 minutes. I gave him the correct apartment number, I also asked him about my I-485, hes said he couldn't send me another receipt, but he did confirm my SRC000xxxxx number and told me my turn will be next year.

Later
