Application Receipt Number

I sent application 485 forms to USCIS 8 weeks ago , but I have not received my application receipt number. My checks have not been cashed.
Do you know how can I get information about my case. Customer services USCIS told me that I need to wait. How long time I have to wait?

Hi, I filed for I-485 on March 22nd and I received the Receipt Number in the mail box on April 5th. I checked my back account and it showed the checks were cashed on April 3rd. Even before receiving the receipt number in the mail, I could check the status online with the receipt number from scanned copy of the cashed check which the bank puts online.
