Application procedure

Hi,

My sister, who is a US citizen, would like to apply for my Green Card. I am currently on H-4 visa. Could somebody provide the procedures and timelines that I need to follow if my sister has to apply from the state of New Jersey.

as long as you are in the US you are ok

It will take a while (probably 4 to 7 years)

but under no circumstances must you leave the US until it is filed.

file right away the i-130. That is the part that takes 4 to 7 years. Then once that is approved the rest is a snap. I-485 and the rest of it.
