Application Number and Receipt Number

Hi all,

I have received the first letter stating that USCIS have received my application and on that there is an Application Number starting with NBC*000-----. When I use this number to check the status online, it says " your case cannot be found at this time. Please check your Receipt number..." Is the application number different from receipt number? Will I be getting another letter with receipt number? Perhaps USCIS will take time to update the online status and I am being too hasty.

The number on the TOP left corner under Application number starting with NBC******** is the one you should be concerned with. Check the case status with the number exactly as it is including "*" sign. If you still get the same message, you need to call 800 number and there is an option in the menu specifically for issues like yours. Good luck.
 
Thanks Spiderman03. I did check using the "*" also. I guess I will have to call the 800 number.

Takes them a while to update the online info. I've had my interview and it still says "Sceduled for interview" online. So give it some time.
 
U r right DoneInMarch. I called 800 number and the lady said that it will take some time to update online status, sometimes as many as 25-30 days:-(. She did say that since I have the Receipt Notice, I am all set.
