Application is with the officer.. What does it mean?

When my attorney made a status inquiry to USCIS on 08/09/06, they received a pretty vague response (given below) over the phone.

"The application is with the officer for the review and we will contact you when the decision is made"

What does this mean? Is this another standard response?

Note: As of 05/02/06 my case was stuck in name check. My spouse and I had LUD changes on our AP on 07/22/06. When I inquired on 07/27/06, I received a letter saying that the application undergoing security checks.

Generally it means..your case is being processed and you will hear something soon!! When I called to inquire about my pending petition, TSC representative told me the same thing and it was approved within 10 days..they first assign it to an officer and reviewing is pretty much the last step..where in the reviewing officer will either approve it or issue RFEs.

Thanks for the response. When I inquired few weeks back, I got a standard response thet my case is undergoing security checks. But, when my attorner called them yesterday they said the application is with as officer for review. Something (may be the name check cleared) would have happened in the mean time.

Hoping for best.
 
My (and my spouse's) 485 LUD changed on 08/10/06 and 08/11/06. I don't know if this is a light at the end of the tunnel..Hoping for the best

I hope your case gets approved soon. I remember your AP also had some recent LUD's.

My old AP, I-140 and H-1B had LUD's in mid-July and my I-485 also has a new LUD dated 8/14/06. My wife's LUD has not been updated thoug.

Please keep us posted.

dg0673 - I did not see any LUD change today sofar. I will keep you posted. Good luck on your LUD change too. I noticed LUD change on my wife's after an hour (of my LUD change)

Toxsci - Did you notice any LUD changes on your 485 prior to 485 approval on your case (and after you called USCIS)? My 485 LUD was changed two times i.e 08/10/06 & 08/11/06, but nothign after that
 
My I-485 had LUDs on 8/14, 8/15, 8/16 with no changes in message (we'll mail you a decision.. etc.)

My wife's I-485 LUD changed today only. They are issuing a RFE.

So in my case the LUDs meant they are working on the cases. I'll keep you guys posted.

I did not notice any LUDs before approval and even after the NC data was updated on to USCIS system..it all depends on the officer I guess.
