application for us citizenship post misdemenour charges

please i need your answers i am a citizen and my husband is a green card holder ,he is due to apply for citizenship but he was convicted of a domestic violence charge 6 years ago and he was given a 1st degree misdemenour which he just got expunged off his recvords.what are his chances if he applies for citizenship?will he be deported ?or should he just renew his green card?please any one out there with an idea drop me a line.

Domestic violence can be a deportable offense, but some is not. Additionally, USCIS will probably want to deny the application since domestic violence is considered to be very serious. The good news is that the conviction appears to be beyond the 5 year look-back period for good moral character so they will need to find something else to pin the denial of Naturalization on.

You really need an attorney to analyze the entire situation for you BEFORE you do anything. I have had several clients who filed their N-400 themselves, without considering these matters, and were then put into deportation proceedings.

This is too important to trust to advice you receive on a message board.
