Application for parents - CP change question

Hi,
I have applied an I-130 for my parents (who were living in India) which had gotten approved. Subsequently I completed several other steps with the NVC. Recently, I received the DS-230 forms which appear to me to be the last step before my parents are called for an interview at the US consulate in New Delhi.

Question - My parents are now visiting me in the US. Is it possible to switch and get the rest of the processing completed in the US? What would be the process to do so?

I would really appreciate any help/guidance.

Regards
Deepak

It is not advisable to enter US on non immigrant visa with an immigrant intent. Your parents have approved I130 which clearly shows their immi intent. That said, some people have done that without problem, however, there is a possibility that they may be sent back from port of entry.

If they do come to US on visitor visa, the adjustment of status (AOS) process in US different from Consular Processing (CP) you had been prsuing so far. Only the first step, I130 is common to AOS and CP. You can file I485 package when they are here for AOS. People usually advise to start AOS (I130/I485) 2-3 months after arrival in US.

Hi:

Do you really want to climb that mountain? It's not impossible, but there are lots of black holes. They are so close - just finish the damn process in New Delhi.
