Hi all,
I got my 485 approval about 8 months back(both of our notice dates are different). I applied for my wifes advance parole couple of weeks back. I got a letter from INS that the advance parole has been approved and she has to appear in person to collect it. Is this common? I thought advance parole is mailed to you directly.

Reference: Wac 02 132-XXXXX
RD-March 30 2002.

Thanks in advance

Was it your 485 approval notice that you received? Or was it a typo.

No This is not the 485 approval notice. This is advance parole notice to appear in person. It also had a receipt for the $110(advance parole fees) stapled to it. It clearly states that the Advance parole is approved and to appear in person with a vaild ID.

AP after 485 approval???

Why did you apply for AP if you have got 485 approval 8 months back? Didn't you get either GC or at least stamp in passports?

Never heard of it. But I don't think it is a serious issue. Only USCIS people know what goes in their mind. Probably they just want to match your wife's face with the AP pictures.

Hi all,
She went to the San Jose Office to collect the advance parole in person. No problem, was out in 20 minutes. They just asked her ID and gave her advance parole for 1 year.
Thanks to all of you for sharing their views.
