i am on F1 right now attending uni, this summer i want to work somewhere.
is it a good idea to apply for a work permit now? since the sep 11th has anyone got work permits while on F1?
please reply with any info regarding this situation.

Yes, I applied for my EAD card in Oct. 2001 and got my EAD in Dec 2001.Check with your school for appropiate forms (I-20 etc).You can apply for EAD if you have been on F1 status for atleast 9 months. Again, check with your school.
