Ap

cccp

Hi all!
Just wondering how many times in and out of the border our AP is good to use. We received 2 same paper of Advance Parole with photo. It's valid to May 5, 2004. Is this mean that we can travel two times cross the border or we can use it more than 2 times using the same paper as long as we use it before its expiring?
Any answers are appreciated.

Read your AP notice, it will clearly say valid for multiple entry, so you can use it as many times as you want till it's expiry date

the second AP document is used as a back up, in case u loose the first one, so keep the second one carefully, make copies of the original and carry one original and many copies when u are traveling, always ensure that the original is returned back to you by the officer/airline and if they want to keep one, in many cases they will need to keep one, give them a photocopy of the ap, NEVER give them the original

cccp,

Actually, the first time you use this AP, an immigration officer at POE should retain the second sheet of your AP. The first sheet, though, will be returned to you and the second time you use this AP, they are not supposed to take anything from you at POE.

Sometimes, airlines do get confused about the whole concept of AP, that's when carrying a couple of copies might actually help, because under no circumstances you want to part with the original, not for a minute. But considering your nickname, and therefore the countries you most likely be flying to, the chances that you actually encounter such AP ignorance are pretty slim. But better err on the safe side, eh?

Nowadays INS has changed the form on which AP is printed, so it does not say directly whether it is a multiple-entry AP or a single-entry AP. You would have to read the fine print to find out.

On a side note, I suspect that they don't issue single-entry AP's anymore...

My coworker (green card holder) was born in cccp. Now it's independant country something like Uzbekstan. After vacation in France he had some problems with French airlines, they didn't want him on the flight, because of Uzbekstan in his green card

Tasse,

you are right, I should not have had based my judgement on such a wide term. Different former Republics have different perceptions towards them in the world.

I guess I was just glad to see another person from ex-USSR on this forum ;) so I have automatically thought about one of the major former Republics (to which Uzbekistan does not belong, apparently).
