Hi Fellows!

I came into the country about ten years ago as F-I. I graduated with MBA in 1999. I have always been in status. I will be traveling to Abuja. Presently, I work for a non-profit organization.

My questions are I have two AP approval letters, do I have to summit my one of my parole documents to an immigration officer before I depart the country?
On my passport, I have students as present occupation but I am no longer a student. Do I have to change my passport?
Do I have to take all my college transcripts in case an officer asked me about my status? I would like to know the best prove to have when leaving the country. I remember on this forum someone was suggesting to us to carry all every document when traveling. Apart from advance parole documents, EAD and passport, what are other vital documents I have to carry when traveling?

Things I am thankful for
I am thankful for God’s provision, protection, unconditional love and mercy
I am thankful my EAD, FP, AP all got approved after many months of waiting.
I am thankful to God I live in America. God bless America and us as we faithfully serve this country and pay tax.

Happy thanksgiving to all!

Okun, thanks for the worderful words.

Q: My questions are I have two AP approval letters, do I have to summit my one of my parole documents to an immigration officer before I depart the country?

A: No

Q: On my passport, I have students as present occupation but I am no longer a student. Do I have to change my passport?

A: No

Q: Do I have to take all my college transcripts in case an officer asked me about my status?

A: No. Now your status is AOS (Adjustment of Status), and AP proves that. The Inspector will write AOS on your new I-94 Form at the entry. The Inspector normally will ask what you are doing now, who sponsors your GC. Just answer the questions honestly. No proof is needed.

Q: I remember on this forum someone was suggesting to us to carry all every document when traveling. Apart from advance parole documents, EAD and passport, what are other vital documents I have to carry when traveling?

A: EAD is not required. AP and Passpost are enuogh, but there is no harm to bring an employment letter. I used AP to come back one month ago. I only used AP and Passport, nothing else. You still need to fill the I-94 and Custom Forms as non-immigrant.

Whis all have a wonderful Thanksgving.

Hi, Fellows:

I have a couple of questions about AP. My wife and I are planning to leave USA for China by using AP this month. It seems clear to us about the procedure when we return. I am not sure what we should do when we leave USA. Do you need give our I94 to immigration officers when we leave USA? We have I94s coming with our H1B. But my H1B will expire next Feb. and My wife H1B has expired in September. She is using EAD. Does this cause any problems? What are the procudures and what are documents we need to submit when we leave USA and return to USA?

Additionally, our EAD will expire in Next March. We are planning to renew the EAD. Should we do this before we leave or after we return? Our lawyer applied for our EAD cards for us last time with I485. She is in a different state. Do we have to ask her to apply for us this time? Can we do it by ourselves? Do we need get another finger print for EAD and where I can get the fringer print form?

Thanks in advance!

Leey

Hi, Leey,

Q: Do you need give our I94 to immigration officers when we leave USA? We have I94s coming with our H1B. But my H1B will expire next Feb. and My wife H1B has expired in September. She is using EAD. Does this cause any problems? What are the procudures and what are documents we need to submit when we leave USA and return to USA?

A: There is no border control in US when you leave. The airline worker will take the I-94. Nothing to worry when you leave USA, just give give your passport with I-94, and ticket receipt to the worker. For your return, I have mentioned the procedure in my previous post.

Q: Additionally, our EAD will expire in Next March. We are planning to renew the EAD. Should we do this before we leave or after we return? Our lawyer applied for our EAD cards for us last time with I485. She is in a different state. Do we have to ask her to apply for us this time? Can we do it by ourselves? A: You'd better renew your EAD before you leave. You can do it yourself. You can find the related form and instruction from immihelp.com and INS website. Now no fingerprint card is needed for EAD application, so no fingerprint is needed.

This is my last time to answer questions on this forum. Guys, please do not direct any questions to me anymore. I wish to thank Mr. Khanna for maintaining such a wonderful site, and to thank many friends for accompanying me on this long and painful journey in quest of the GC. I may just come back occassionally to congrat old friends' approvals.

Wish you all dreams coming true soon.
