Hello All:

I am going to India next month. My H1B got extended recently and its valid till Aug 2004. I also have AP till Jan 2004. I am planning to return in end of Dec. My company files AP extension. My question is:

- Do I need to get my Visa stamped while I am in chennai.
- Or can I use AP to enter to USA
- What is the disadvantage of using AP
- What is the advantage of stamping.

I need to get mine and my wife's passport stamped, which costs around Rs.15,000.

Please advice

Thanks

V Prakash

Re - AP Vs new stamping

Just to tell you, I got my 140 approved in Dec.2002 and 485 filed at the same time. First finger printing happened on Jan 2003.

Just now I read some other thread that people prefer to have new stamping. But don't know why

Thanks

V Prakash

Using AP means secondary inspection. So at the port of entry it takes a little longer to get immigration clearance.
Being on H visa lets you not burdened by I485 denial (rare)
If your only aim is to save Rs.15,000 use AP.
