As I metioned in my earlier email, my father had a stroke and is in serious condition.

After my lawyer faxed VSC for emergency Advance parole, mt case was approved on 26th Feb. However, I am still waiting for the receipt.

My question is, do I have to wait until I receive the approval notice in hand or can leave now?
Does you see any problem with me leaving now and my friend mail me my AP approval notice to me overseas.

Please advice.

kulin, can yu try yr local office to get emergency AP,same day ? provide them some support with yr paper work and copy of attorneys' letter ? Also at the same time you can try to explain officer that yr case has been approved as per online can they stamp yr passport on that basis ? may you carry that online proof also ?

You need to carry AP before you leave US.

You can very much get AP on emergency basis and you need to show some evidence abt ur father condition, may be a letter from hospital or from doctor.

SORRY to hear about your Dad situation. Did you try emergency AP at your local center? You might get your approval by tomorrow, If you don't get it by tomorrow, try for emergency AP.

Potential Fedex Route

Kulin,

The most preffered thing (as others have suggested) is to try for emergency AP at your local office tomorrow. In a worst case, I have heard of people (like in your situation) who have called USCIS and have had them FEDEX the approved AP document to your address (for an extra charge). Call the Customer Service Number or Fax your request.

Hopefully, the already approved AP doc will reach you in the mail tomorrow. Wishing you and your family all the very best.

( Am simply suggesting an alternative method if required - nothing like you going to the local office and getting this tomorrow)

Take care.

Thank you everyone for your advise.

I had been to the local office in San Francisco to get emergency AP but it was denied b'cas they thought having a stroke is not grave enough to be considered an emergency. Death on other hand will qualify fr emergency parole.

I hope I'll get the Approval notice tomorrow.

BTW, I have been overseas on AP earlier but my AP was never checked when I was leaving. How does the immigration officer know what AP I used to leave the country?

If the officer at POE checks your AP approval date and your departure stamp in your passport, you might have a problem.

kulinc, True ., In SF office they denied me too in Sept 03. I think if your AP is approved ,and it is in mail wait for 2-4 days and then leave.

Everyone - Thanks for your reply.

I went to SF local office and mentioned that my case is approved and asked if they can print the approval notice for me. The result was negative...

My AP was approved on 26th Feb and I am still waiting for the receipt. I need to go back home soon... Since my case has been approved for almost 5 dys now, I am planning on leaving tomorrow (2nd march) and have my friends send me the approval notice when it arrives.

Do you think there is a big risk in doing this?
