AP Renewal...

Guys,

Thinking that my 485 wd be approved by this time, I didn't go for my AP renewal. My current AP expired unutilized this month. I am in a fix now. It seems my father is not doing well and when I spoke last, my mom sounded urgency.

How do I get my AP renewed in a day? Shall I walk into the Atlanta office of the INS and explain? If yes, what docs do I need to carry?

I would suggest local office wold be the best

I'm assuming that your employement is based on EAD and not H1. If you are on a valid H1, you would not need AP to come back.

You can call in and check with them for documents requirements before you visit them . Also, check the INS website's AP form to see what docs are required. Try to explain the situation to the concerned person regarding your personal situation, and see if he/she needs additional evidence or document regarding this.

Our (me & wife) AP (renewal) RFE response(copies of passport pages ) was received by Nebraska somewhere in NOV. '02 and It is still not approved. I'd not recommend to apply to NSC when you need it urgently.

Although I'm not in urgent need of AP (H1 still good) but my wife may need it. since she changed her status from non-immigrant status(H4) to adjusting status(used her EAD). So, I'm eagerly waiting for the approval.

U will need a medical certificate/letter from the doctor or hospital treating your father stating the diagnosis and prognosis of his condition and the urgency for your visit. If the local INS feels that yours is a valid case they will renew your AP immediately the same day. In any case you can just call your local INS office to get complete details.
