AP renewal question

My current AP will expire on May 9, 2006. My lawyer has just filed AP extension for me early this month. I'm planning to travel out of US around April. My lawyer said It's no problem at all to use my current AP as long as come back before May 9 if I haven't received AP extension approval before I leave this country. Other lawyers within same company did confirm that.

However I would be good if someone had same situation before and have no trouble getting back to US. Also what will be the new AP expiration date? May 8, 2007 or a year after my AP extension approval date?

If your AP expires on May 9th 2006 - then you'll have no problems re-entering the country up until May 8th 2006. Just be sure if you travel that you're back before May 8th.

When your new AP is issued, the date on it will have nothing to do with the date of issuance or expiration on your current AP. The date will be reliant on when they received your application for the AP, and when they processed it.
