Hi All,

My I-485 is pending and I will be going for a month long vacation to India. I will be re-entering the U.S. based on my Advance Parole.

These are some of my questions:

1. What documents must I carry with me other than my passport and Advance Parole?

2. I have 3 copies of the Advance Parole, how many copies will be taken by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry?

3. Does the Immigration Officer stamp on the Advance Parole and give it back to me?

Hi All,

Ans: You need to carry your passport as usual, A.P(mandatory), I-485, if you work...employer letter.

2. I have 3 copies of the Advance Parole, how many copies will be taken by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry?

Ans: They will take one copy....to stamp. Rest two you can keep with you.
3. Does the Immigration Officer stamp on the Advance Parole and give it back to me?

Ans: After stamping in this....one copy which they have taken and they will return your copy as well. They don't keep with them. This is what happened when my family went for a vacation.

In reality you don't need any other document other than what you listed.

If you have a copy of the 485 receipt notice, you can take it ... if you don't have it, no big deal.
No need for anything else.

You may also want to take some photocopies of the AP ... sometime the airlines asks for a copy ... don't give the original AP to anyone but the Immig officer at POE.
